Thirteen Steps on the Thirteenth Day

Writer's picture: Words Among TreesWords Among Trees

Shadows have begun

to harvest summer's death

the tides rearrange

somewhere time hides

another pained memory

wraith-like in twilight

a trail of faded photographs

fragranced candles long blown out

I asked for your favourite jacket

already been thrown away they said

why must belongings be discarded

so quickly in the aftermath of dying

if you've received peace

from your thoughts

the jacket thrown away

I can forgive

in this frequency of existence

shadows have begun

to harvest summer's death

I no longer sense your energy

I am trapped in prayers

voiced to save you

glued in the ether

astrally trying to heal you

twenty-five years of friendship

entombed in autumn's fading light

and all the time life continues on

as the tides rearrange fate
