Pebbles
sporadically collected
perhaps as random
as God's own laws
heavy in a new pocket
their bruised energy speaks of injustice
Mother Earth has cast a poignant sentence
of which the outcome shall condemn us all
while the last doubled over and spindly hope snaps
some embrace existence as they travel this realm called life
others simply become disembodied wings attached to fate's gnarled branches
